Guerras (Un viaje en el tiempo) es un álbum de Ciro y los Persas lanzado en 2020. Grabado en Estudios Del Cielito, Buenos Aires. Producción a cargo de Ciro y los Persas. Escuchalo completo en LyricStream.
"Guerras" is the first volume of a double project titled "Un viaje en el tiempo", which Ciro y los Persas released in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The album addresses the theme of human conflicts, both external (wars, social violence, injustices) and internal (contradictions, fears, anxieties). Recorded at Del Cielito, the album has a darker and heavier sound than its predecessors, with more distorted guitars, faster rhythms, and more urgent and political lyrics.
The first single "Guerras" was a preview of this combative tone, with its aggressive riff and lyrics denouncing the hypocrisy of the powerful and society's indifference. "El primer día del fin del mundo" and "La furia del dragón" (re-recorded from the previous album) showcased the band's most epic and cinematic side. "El diablo y la princesa" and "La canción más triste del mundo" explored more intimate themes, with arrangements that lower the intensity and allow Ciro's voice to shine in its most melancholic facet. The album was released in the middle of quarantine, which prevented the promotional tour, but did not prevent it from being a sales success.
The legacy of "Guerras" is that of an album that captures the anguish and uncertainty of its time, but also the need for resistance and struggle. Critics received it with excellent reviews, highlighting Ciro's courage in addressing political and social issues without losing musical quality. For fans, it was a balm in the midst of the pandemic, a soundtrack to weather the storm. An album that demonstrates that Argentine rock continues to be a space for reflection and commitment, even (and especially) in the most difficult moments.
