Daniel Melero conceived X as a turning point in his career, moving away from conventional rock to immerse himself in electronic and experimental textures. Recorded in Buenos Aires between 2008 and 2009, the album explored human fragility through analog synthesizers and processed vocals. Its release in 2009 on the Indice Virgen label cemented it as a cult work within Argentina’s underground scene.

The production of X was marked by a minimalist and obsessive approach, with Melero manipulating samplers and magnetic tapes in his home studio. The lyrics, written as cryptic poems, reflected his fascination with technology and urban alienation. The title track X became an underground anthem, blending cold beats with distorted whispers.

Despite its modest initial reception, X influenced a generation of Argentine electronic musicians like Louta and Fémina. Melero avoided large live performances, favoring intimate shows with abstract visuals. Today, the album is revalued as a precursor to 21st-century Latin American experimental music.
