Peperina is the fourth and final studio album by Serú Girán in their original lineup, released in 1981, shortly before the band's dissolution. The title refers to the fictional girlfriend of one of the characters created by the band, an allegory of the search for love and identity in times of uncertainty. Recorded at RCA studios, the album features a more pop and accessible sound than its predecessors, with shorter songs and more conventional structures, but without losing the harmonic sophistication that characterized the band. The cover, an illustration by Gustavo Jacob, became another iconic image of Argentine rock.

The single 'Llorar hasta llorar' is one of the band's most famous songs, with its catchy melody and lyrics about heartbreak and despair. 'Viernes 3 AM' (composed by bassist Pedro Aznar) and 'Peperina' showcased the band's most poetic and melancholic side, with string arrangements that give it an intimate and moving atmosphere. 'Me verás volar' and 'Es tarde ya' anticipated the solo paths the members would take after the breakup, with songs that looked inward and explored the artist's contradictions in their environment. The production is impeccable, although some critics noted a certain loss of the energy of previous albums.

The legacy of 'Peperina' is that of an album that, without reaching the perfection of 'Bicicleta', is a fundamental piece in the history of Serú Girán and Argentine rock. The album was a commercial success despite the internal tensions already brewing in the band, and it enjoyed public favor. Over time, songs like 'Llorar hasta llorar' and 'Pepe, el androide' became classics of the Argentine rock repertoire. Peperina is the swan song of one of the most important bands in history, the final point of a journey that began four years earlier and left an indelible mark on an entire generation.
