White Christmas is a Christmas album by Al Green, released in 1983 under Myrrh Records, a subsidiary of Word Records specializing in Christian music. This was Green's second Christmas album, following his successful 'Al Green Sings Christmas' from 1975, and marked his definitive transition to gospel after his ordination as a pastor in 1976.
The album includes a mix of traditional carols such as 'Silent Night' and 'O Holy Night', along with popular Christmas songs like 'White Christmas' and 'Winter Wonderland'. The production, handled by Al Green himself, reflects a soul-gospel style characteristic of his Myrrh period, with choral arrangements and warm, spiritual instrumentation.
Although it did not reach the commercial charts like his earlier secular work, 'White Christmas' was well received by the Christian community and Green's followers. It remains a rarity in his discography, having been reissued on CD in later years by various gospel-specialized labels.
