Danse Manatee is the second studio album by Animal Collective, released in 2001. It was recorded at Avey Tare's home studio in New York City, with a lo-fi and experimental approach.
The album continues the noisy and abstract style of their debut, Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished, but with denser and more chaotic production. It features contributions from all founding members: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, and Geologist.
Originally released on CD by the independent label Catsup Plate, Danse Manatee received mixed reviews for its abrasive sound, but has since become a cult piece within the group's discography.
