Love All the Hurt Away is Aretha Franklin's twenty-ninth studio album, released in 1981 by Arista Records. It was produced by Arif Mardin, who had previously worked with Franklin on earlier albums. The album marked a transition towards a more contemporary sound, blending soul, R&B, and pop.
The album features a notable collaboration with George Benson on the title track «Love All the Hurt Away», which was also the lead single. Other notable songs include «Hold On, I'm Comin'», a cover of the Sam & Dave classic, and «Living in the Streets». Although it received mixed reviews, the album reached number 36 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Despite not achieving the massive success of her earlier work on Atlantic Records, Love All the Hurt Away solidified Franklin's career in the 1980s and demonstrated her ability to adapt to new musical trends. The album was certified gold by the RIAA in 1982.
