Sweet Passion is the twenty-second studio album by Aretha Franklin, released in 1977. It was produced by Lamont Dozier, known for his work at Motown, and marked a shift towards a more disco and contemporary R&B sound.
The album includes a cover of The Drifters' hit 'Save Me' and the song 'Break It to Me Gently', originally recorded by Brenda Lee. Although it did not achieve the massive success of her earlier works, it peaked at number 49 on the Billboard 200 and number 6 on the R&B albums chart.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, Sweet Passion showcased Franklin's versatility and ability to adapt to the musical trends of the time. Dozier's production brought a polished style that contrasted with her earlier gospel and soul works.
