What You See Is What You Sweat is the thirty-sixth studio album by Aretha Franklin, released on June 25, 1991, by Arista Records. The album's title is a play on the phrase 'What You See Is What You Get'.
The album features collaborations with prominent producers of the era, including Narada Michael Walden and the duo C+C Music Factory (David Cole and Robert Clivillés). The song 'Everyday People', a cover of the Sly and the Family Stone classic, was released as the lead single.
Despite its contemporary production for the time, the album did not match the commercial success of Franklin's earlier work. It peaked at number 153 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 28 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
