The album was produced by Eric Clapton and Simon Climie, and blends covers of blues classics such as "Three O'Clock Blues" and "Key to the Highway" with new interpretations, highlighting the chemistry between the two guitarists.
Riding with the King was a commercial and critical success, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart and winning the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2001, in addition to being certified platinum.
