This Should Not Be was released in 1992 by Triple X Records. It is Bo Diddley's last studio album with original material, though it includes some re-recordings of his earlier hits.
The album features a rawer, more direct sound, with Diddley playing guitar and singing in a style reminiscent of his early recordings. Production was again handled by himself.
The album's title reflects the musician's surprise at certain aspects of the music industry. Although not widely promoted, it is valued by collectors as a late piece of his work.
