New Morning is Bob Dylan's eleventh studio album, released on October 21, 1970. It was recorded at Columbia Studios in New York, with additional sessions in Nashville. The album marked a return to a more acoustic and optimistic sound, in contrast to the experimentalism of his previous works.
The album includes songs such as 'If Not for You', later covered by George Harrison, and 'The Man in Me', which became famous for its use in the film 'The Big Lebowski'. Dylan also recorded versions of 'Went to See the Gypsy' and 'Day of the Locusts', the latter inspired by a graduation ceremony at Princeton University.
New Morning received generally positive reviews and reached number 7 on the Billboard charts. It is considered by many as a transitional album, showing Dylan in a period of personal and creative stability following his 1966 motorcycle accident and temporary retirement.
