Shangó is the twelfth studio album by the band Santana, released in 1982. The name refers to the Yoruba god of thunder and fire, Shangó, reflecting Santana's Afro-Caribbean roots.
Recorded at The Automatt and Record Plant studios in California, the album was again produced by Carlos Santana and Keith Olsen. It includes the hit 'Hold On' (not to be confused with the song from the previous album) and covers such as 'She's Not There' by The Zombies.
Shangó peaked at number 22 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold. The album marked a transition toward a more commercial sound, while still maintaining elements of Latin fusion and rock.
