An Other Cup is the first studio album by Cat Stevens (under his stage name Yusuf Islam) in 28 years, following his retirement from popular music in 1979. It was released in November 2006. The album marks his return to secular music, though with lyrics reflecting his Islamic faith and spiritual quest.
The album was recorded at private studios in London and Dubai, with contributions from guitarist Alun Davies, Stevens' collaborator since the 1970s, and producer Rick Nowels. It includes songs like «Heaven/Where True Love Goes» and «Maybe There's a World», blending folk, pop, and world music. The cover art features a teacup, referencing the title.
An Other Cup received mixed reviews but achieved moderate commercial success, reaching the top 20 in the UK and top 50 in the US. Stevens promoted the album with interviews and live performances, though he avoided extensive touring. In 2007, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work.
