Children's Songs is a solo piano album by Chick Corea, released in 1984 by ECM Records. The work consists of 20 short pieces for solo piano, composed between 1971 and 1983, which Corea described as 'songs for children' in spirit, though technically sophisticated.
The album was recorded at Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles, owned by Corea, and produced by himself. The album cover features an illustration by artist M.C. Escher, reflecting the playful and mathematical nature of the compositions.
Children's Songs is considered a fundamental work in Corea's solo piano repertoire, showcasing his most lyrical and minimalist side. The best-known piece from the set is 'Children's Song No. 12', which Corea frequently performed in concert and also recorded with his Elektric Band.
