Piano Improvisations Vol. 2 is Chick Corea's second solo album for the ECM label, released in 1971. It was recorded at Arne Bendiksen Studios in Oslo, Norway, and produced by Manfred Eicher.
The album consists entirely of solo piano improvisations, showcasing Corea's ability to create spontaneous compositions blending jazz, classical music, and avant-garde elements. It is considered a seminal work in solo jazz piano of the 1970s.
This record is the follow-up to Piano Improvisations Vol. 1 (also from 1971) and reflects Corea's transition from acoustic jazz towards freer, more eclectic explorations, influenced by his work with Miles Davis and his foray into electric fusion.
