Where Have I Known You Before is the second studio album by Return to Forever, released in 1974. It marks the first appearance of guitarist Al Di Meola in the band, replacing Bill Connors, and solidifies the group's transition towards a more electric and rock-oriented jazz fusion sound.
The album was recorded in August 1974 at Record Plant Studios in New York. Production was handled by Chick Corea himself, and the record reached number 32 on the Billboard 200 chart, achieving commercial and critical success within the genre.
The album cover, designed by John Berg, features a surreal landscape with a giant eye, reflecting the introspective and cosmic theme of the music. The central track, 'Vulcan Worlds', has become a jazz fusion classic.
