Shine is Cyndi Lauper's eighth studio album, released in 2004. It was initially released independently in Japan and later in the United States through Daylight/Epic Records. The album marked a return to a pop rock sound after experimenting with blues and country on previous works.
Production was handled by Lauper herself along with Russ Titelman, who had previously worked with her in the 1980s. The album features collaborations with musicians such as guitarist Nile Rodgers. Recording sessions took place in various studios across the United States between 2003 and 2004.
Despite receiving positive reviews for its energy and honesty, Shine did not achieve major commercial success in the United States. However, it was well received in Japan and among her most loyal fans. The album includes songs that address themes of personal growth and hope.
