Truth Is Fallen is an oratorio by Dave Brubeck based on the Book of Amos from the Old Testament. It was commissioned by the University of Cincinnati and premiered in 1971.
The album was recorded in 1971 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Conservatory Choir. Brubeck plays piano, with baritone William Justus as the principal soloist.
The work addresses themes of social justice and corruption, reflecting the moral crisis of the era. Brubeck dedicated the piece to his son Michael, who died in 1970.
