Dave Brubeck brought together his four musical sons for this double live album, recorded at the Schaefer Music Festival in New York. The title plays on the fact that the brothers had never performed together on stage.
The album features Darius Brubeck on keyboards, Chris Brubeck on bass and trombone, Dan Brubeck on drums, and Dave himself on piano. The band plays original compositions and standards with an experimental approach.
It was Brubeck's first release on the Atlantic label after leaving Columbia. It received mixed reviews for its eclectic style but is valued for documenting the unique family collaboration in Brubeck's career.
