I'm a Rainbow is Donna Summer's sixteenth studio album, released in 1996, although it was originally recorded between 1980 and 1981. It was conceived as a double album showcasing different musical facets of Summer, from rock to pop and ballads, but was rejected by her label at the time, Geffen Records.

After years of contractual disputes and Geffen's refusal to release it, the album remained unreleased until 1996, when Mercury Records issued it in a limited edition. The production was handled by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, the team that had driven her success in the disco era. The album includes the single 'I'm a Rainbow', which failed to chart on major lists.

The belated release of I'm a Rainbow was met with interest from fans and critics, who considered it a time capsule of Summer's artistic transition. Although it had no significant commercial impact, it is valued as a historical document of her musical evolution in the early 1980s.
