Harum Scarum is the soundtrack to the 1965 film of the same name. Elvis plays Johnny Tyronne, an American singer and actor who travels to a fictional Middle Eastern country. The film was directed by Gene Nelson and produced by Sam Katzman.
The recording sessions for the album took place over three days: February 23 25, 1965, at Radio Recorders studios in Hollywood. Most songs were written by the era's songwriting team, including Joy Byers, Bill Giant, Bernie Baum, and Florence Kaye.
The album reached number 8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and was certified gold by the RIAA. Although not considered one of Elvis's most notable works, it includes tracks like 'Harum Scarum' and 'Go East, Young Man,' reflecting the film's exotic style.
