Elvis Presley recorded 'He Touched Me' during the same sessions that produced his previous album, 'Elvis Country (I'm 10,000 Years Old)'. The album was released in April 1972 and focuses exclusively on gospel music, a genre Presley deeply loved and which earned him his second Grammy Award, in the category of Best Gospel Performance.

The album includes a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary gospel songs, such as 'He Touched Me' (written by Bill Gaither) and 'Amazing Grace'. Although it was not a major commercial success on the pop charts, it reached number 79 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart.

The album cover shows Elvis wearing a brown leather jacket, an image that contrasts with the spiritual content of the record. 'He Touched Me' is considered one of Presley's best gospel albums and a testament to his personal faith, which he maintained throughout his career.
