The recordings took place in two sessions: the soundtrack tracks were recorded on June 20 and 21, 1967, at MGM Studios, while additional tracks for the album were recorded in September 1967 at RCA Studio B in Nashville. Producer Jeff Alexander handled the film sessions, and Felton Jarvis produced the final album.
The lead single, 'Your Time Hasn't Come Yet, Baby', was released in April 1968 and reached number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album includes a collaboration with Nancy Sinatra on the song 'Your Groovy Self'.
