Some Nice Things I've Missed was released in 1974 by Reprise Records, produced by Don Costa. The album represents Sinatra's attempt to update his repertoire with popular songs of the era he had not recorded before, such as Stevie Wonder's 'You Are the Sunshine of My Life' and Jim Croce's 'Bad, Bad Leroy Brown'.

The recording sessions took place between 1973 and 1974 at Burbank and Hollywood studios. Although the album reached number 147 on the Billboard 200 chart, it received mixed reviews for its dense orchestral style and choice of contemporary material, far from Sinatra's classic sound.

The title reflects Sinatra's intention to perform songs he had 'missed' recording during his career. However, the album did not achieve the commercial success of his previous works and is considered one of the least notable of his Reprise period.
