Bossa Nova and Blues is Freddie King's second album, released in 1963 on King Records. It was produced by Sonny Thompson and recorded in Cincinnati. The record attempts to fuse King's blues with the bossa nova style, popular at the time.
The album includes instrumental versions of tracks like 'Bossa Nova Blues' and 'Bossa Nova Watusi Twist', as well as traditional King vocal songs. The blend of Brazilian rhythms with blues was an unusual commercial gamble.
Although it did not achieve great success, the album showcases King's versatility. Today it is a rarity valued by collectors, though its experimental approach did not define his later career.
