Walls Can Fall was George Jones's first album for MCA Nashville after leaving Epic Records. The record marked a return to a more traditional country sound, moving away from the pop arrangements that had characterized some of his earlier work.
The album included collaborations with prominent Nashville songwriters and musicians, and its lead single, 'I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair', became an anthem for Jones, who frequently performed it live. The song was written by Billy Yates and Frank Dycus.
Walls Can Fall peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and received positive reviews for its authenticity. Although not a massive commercial success, it solidified Jones's reputation as a legend of the genre in the 1990s.
