I Have a Right is the fifth studio album by Gloria Gaynor, released in 1979 by Polydor Records. Again produced by the duo Dino Fekaris and Freddie Perren, the album continued the line of its predecessor, combining disco elements with ballads and R&B. It was recorded in Los Angeles studios.
The lead single, "Let Me Know (I Have a Right)", had moderate success on the R&B charts, reaching number 42 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles. However, it failed to repeat the massive impact of "I Will Survive". Another single, "One Number One", was also released but with less impact.
The album received mixed reviews at the time, and although it did not reach the sales of Love Tracks, it showed Gaynor's versatility as a performer. Over time, I Have a Right has been re-evaluated by some critics as a solid work within her discography, though it remains one of her lesser-known albums.
