Abandoned Luncheonette is the second studio album by Hall & Oates, released in 1973 on Atlantic Records. Produced again by Arif Mardin, it was recorded at Atlantic Studios in New York. The album marked a shift towards a more soul and pop sound, with orchestral arrangements.
The lead single, 'She's Gone', became a minor hit upon its original release, but gained greater popularity when re-released in 1976, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Another notable single was 'When the Morning Comes', which also received radio airplay.
The album title comes from an abandoned restaurant the duo saw during a tour. The cover features a photograph of a closed eatery. Over time, Abandoned Luncheonette has been regarded as one of Hall & Oates' best early works, and was certified gold by the RIAA.
