Recorded and released in 1976, Secrets is Herbie Hancock's thirteenth studio album and the second with his band The Headhunters after the group's initial breakup. The album blends funk, jazz, and disco elements, with a more polished production than his previous works.

The record includes the hit single 'Doin' It', which reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart. Other notable tracks are 'People Music' and 'Cantelope Island', a reworking of his classic 'Cantaloupe Island' with a funkier arrangement. The lineup includes musicians such as Bennie Maupin, Paul Jackson, and Harvey Mason.

Although it did not achieve the commercial success of Head Hunters, Secrets was well received by critics and reached number 1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. The album represents Hancock's transition toward a more pop and dance-oriented sound.
