Ice Cube released War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc) on March 14, 2000, as the second part of a two-volume conceptual project. The album was conceived as a reflection on violence and the search for peace, both personal and social, following the more warlike tone of its predecessor.
The record featured production from several regular collaborators, including Dr. Dre and DJ Pooh, and presented a sound that blended G-funk with more introspective lyrics. Although it did not achieve the commercial success of the first volume, it debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200.
Critical reception was mixed, with praise for Cube's lyrical maturity but criticism for lack of cohesion. The lead single, Hello, featuring Dr. Dre and MC Ren, was one of the standout tracks, though the album did not generate major radio hits.
