Post Pop Depression is the seventeenth studio album by Iggy Pop, released on March 18, 2016. It was secretly recorded with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Dean Fertita, and Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys). The album was conceived as a collaboration and a reflection on mortality, partly inspired by the death of David Bowie, a close friend of Iggy Pop.
The album reached number 17 on the Billboard 200 and was critically acclaimed, with a score of 81 out of 100 on Metacritic. The promotional tour included performances on shows like 'The Tonight Show' and a concert at the Olympia Theatre in Paris, which was filmed for a documentary directed by Andrew Dominik.
The album's title refers to a period of post-tour depression Iggy Pop experienced, as well as the introspective nature of the lyrics. The song 'Gardenia' was released as the lead single, followed by 'Break into Your Heart' and 'Sunday'. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2017.
