Out of Sight is the seventh studio album by James Brown, released in 1964, also on Smash Records. It is Brown's second and final album for this label before returning to King Records. The title comes from the lead song, which became a hit and marked a step forward towards the funk sound.
The album includes a mix of instrumental and vocal versions, featuring the James Brown Orchestra. The song "Out of Sight" is particularly notable for its syncopated rhythm and bass line, foreshadowing the funk that Brown would fully develop in later years.
Although the album was not a major commercial success at the time, it is now valued by critics as a key work in Brown's evolution. It was reissued on CD in 1992 by Mercury Records, together with Grits & Soul.
