Soul Syndrome is a studio album by James Brown released in 1980 on Polydor. It was recorded at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, Florida, and produced by James Brown and Brad Shapiro.
The album continued Brown's exploration of the funk and disco sounds of the era, with an emphasis on danceable rhythms and string arrangements. It features contributions from musicians such as saxophonist Maceo Parker.
Soul Syndrome peaked at number 47 on the Billboard Top Soul Albums chart. Although not one of his most successful albums, it contains tracks that reflect Brown's musical transition in the 1980s.
