Don't Stop the Carnival is Jimmy Buffett's sixteenth studio album, released on April 21, 1998. It is a concept album based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Herman Wouk, and also served as the soundtrack for the musical of the same name that Buffett co-wrote.
The album was recorded at Shrimpboat Sound Studios in Key West, Florida, and at The Clubhouse Studios in Los Angeles, California. It features songs that tell the story of a New York publicist who buys a hotel on a Caribbean island.
Don't Stop the Carnival peaked at number 57 on the Billboard 200 chart. Although not a massive commercial success, it received mixed reviews and is considered an experimental project within Buffett's discography.
