Class of '55: Memphis Rock and Roll Homecoming is a collaborative album recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1985, and released in 1986. It brings together Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison, four rock and roll pioneers who originally recorded for Sun Records in the 1950s.
The project was conceived as a tribute to the 30th anniversary of the Sun sound, and was produced by Chips Moman. Each artist contributed original songs and covers, including duets and group tracks. The recording was documented in a television special.
The album reached number 21 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the single 'Big Train (From Memphis)', a collaboration among the four artists. Although it received mixed reviews, it is valued as a historical document of the reunion of these legendary musicians.
