My Mother's Hymn Book is a posthumously released album by Johnny Cash, issued on April 6, 2004. It consists of a collection of gospel hymns that Cash learned from his mother, Carrie Rivers Cash, during his childhood in Arkansas.
The recordings were made in 2003 at Cash's home studio, the 'Cash Cabin Studio' in Hendersonville, Tennessee, produced by Johnny Cash and his son John Carter Cash. The album features only Cash's voice and his acoustic guitar, with no additional instrumentation.
Originally, these songs were recorded as part of the sessions for American IV: The Man Comes Around, but were separated to form a standalone album. It was the last album released during Cash's lifetime, though it appeared posthumously, and reflects his deep Christian faith.
