Silver is the 48th studio album by Johnny Cash, released in 1979 by Columbia Records. It was again produced by Larry Butler. The album reached number 28 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, a moderate performance compared to other Cash works of the decade.

The album includes the single 'The Bull Rider', which failed to chart, and a cover of 'I'll Be Loving You', a song popularized by Elvis Presley. It also contains original compositions by Cash and collaborations with other musicians, such as 'The L&N Don't Stop Here Anymore', written by Jean Ritchie.

Silver is considered a transitional album in Cash's career, showing his interest in more personal and narrative themes. Although it was not a major commercial success, it has been reappraised by some critics as a solid work within his late Columbia discography.
