Keith Jarrett recorded this solo album at his home studio in New Jersey between 1997 and 1998. It was conceived as a gift for his wife Rose Anne, during his convalescence from chronic fatigue syndrome.
The album consists of intimate interpretations of jazz standards and popular songs, played with a minimalist and meditative approach. Jarrett used a Steinway grand piano, recorded with close microphones to capture the warmth of the sound.
Released in 1999 by ECM, the album was acclaimed for its serene beauty and emotional vulnerability. It marked a turning point in Jarrett's career, showing a more personal and reflective side.
