God's Property was a gospel choir formed by Kirk Franklin in Dallas, Texas. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1997 and reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, an unprecedented achievement for a gospel group.
The lead single 'Stomp' featured rapper Salt from Salt-N-Pepa and became a crossover hit, reaching the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song blended gospel with hip-hop and R&B.
The album won a Grammy Award in 1998 for Best Gospel Album by a Choir or Chorus. It sold over two million copies in the United States and solidified Kirk Franklin as an innovator of contemporary gospel.
