The First Lady is the sixteenth studio album by Loretta Lynn, released in 1975 by MCA Records. Produced again by Owen Bradley, the album continues the traditional country style with soft orchestral arrangements typical of the Nashville sound of the era.

The album includes the hit single 'The Pill', a controversial song about birth control that became one of Lynn's biggest successes, reaching number 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Other notable tracks are 'The First Lady' and 'Love Is the Foundation'.

The First Lady was recorded at Bradley's Barn studios. The album's title refers to the nickname Lynn received in the music industry. The record was commercially successful and solidified her status as one of the most influential voices in country music during the 1970s.
