Nefertiti is Miles Davis's fifteenth studio album, released in 1968. It was recorded in 1967 with the second great quintet, featuring Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams, and marks a transition toward modal jazz and jazz fusion.

The album is notable for its innovative approach: on the title track, the saxophones and trumpet repeat a theme while the rhythm section improvises, reversing traditional jazz roles. The song was composed by Wayne Shorter, who also contributed three other compositions.

Nefertiti is considered a turning point in Davis's career, moving away from hard bop and exploring freer, more abstract textures. It also includes 'Madness' and 'Fall', which foreshadow the style of later albums like In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew.
