The album came about after Cole's success in Latin America and Spain, where his Spanish versions of songs like 'Quizás, Quizás, Quizás' became popular. It features orchestral arrangements by Nelson Riddle and Ralph Carmichael.
Cole Español reached number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart and was a milestone in Cole's career, showcasing his linguistic versatility and connection with Spanish-speaking audiences. It was certified gold by the RIAA.
