Ghosts VI: Locusts is the sixth installment in Nine Inch Nails' instrumental Ghosts series, released on March 26, 2020. It was issued alongside Ghosts V: Together as two surprise albums, with no prior announcement, on digital platforms and limited physical formats.
The album was composed and recorded by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike Ghosts V, which has a more hopeful tone, Locusts presents a dark, industrial, and oppressive atmosphere, reflecting anxiety and chaos.
The cover art depicts a plague of locusts, symbolizing destruction and disaster. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 2021, though Reznor and Ross have stated they do not consider their music new age.
