Pure Smokey is Smokey Robinson's second studio album as a solo artist, released in 1974 on the Tamla label, a subsidiary of Motown. The album marks a shift towards a smoother, more sophisticated sound, moving away from the style of The Miracles.

Recorded between 1973 and 1974, the album was entirely produced by Smokey Robinson himself, who also wrote most of the songs. It features contributions from Motown session musicians and orchestral arrangements that reflect the singer's artistic maturity.

The album reached number 34 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 7 on the R&B albums chart. Although it did not generate major commercial hits, songs like 'Baby That's Backatcha' became favorites among Robinson's followers.
