Smoke Signals is the fifteenth studio album by Smokey Robinson, released in 1986 on Tamla. The album continued Robinson's exploration of the contemporary pop and R&B sound of the mid-eighties, with a more electronic production.
The single "Just to See Her" became one of Robinson's biggest hits, reaching number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Another single, "One Heartbeat", also performed notably on the charts.
The album received generally favorable reviews and was nominated for several awards, including a Grammy for "Just to See Her". Smoke Signals was certified gold by the RIAA in 1987, representing one of Robinson's last major commercial successes of that decade.
