The album was released in 1988 under the pseudonym Ciccone Youth, a side project of Sonic Youth that parodied pop culture and Madonna's music. The title references The Beatles' White Album and the band's song 'Whitey'.

Recorded between 1987 and 1988, the album includes experimental covers of Madonna songs, such as 'Into the Groove(y)', and original pieces blending noise rock with samples and sound collages. The cover features a distorted image of Madonna.

The album was produced by Sonic Youth and released by SST Records. Although not a commercial success, it is considered a cult work that reflects the band's ironic and avant-garde attitude toward 1980s mainstream culture.
