Soft Touch is Tammy Wynette's twentieth studio album, released in 1980 under Epic Records. It was produced by Billy Sherrill, who collaborated with Wynette on most of her recordings during her Epic years.
The album features a mix of traditional country songs and soft ballads, highlighted by the single 'He Was There (When I Needed You)', which peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Another single, 'You Can't Take the Country Out of Me', did not chart.
Although not one of Wynette's most successful albums, Soft Touch reflects her signature style and ability to convey emotion through music. Sherrill's production maintains the polished sound that defined her career in the 1970s and early 1980s.
