Banging the Wall is the thirteenth studio album by The Bar-Kays, released in 1985 on Mercury Records. It was recorded between 1984 and 1985, produced by Allen Jones and the band itself.
The album continued the group's transition towards a more funk and contemporary R&B sound of the mid-1980s, though it did not achieve the commercial success of earlier works such as 'Propositions' (1982).
The lead single 'Dirty Dancer' received moderate rotation on R&B radio stations, but the album did not enter the main Billboard charts, marking a decline in the group's popularity during that decade.
