Desperado is the second studio album by The Eagles, released on April 17, 1973. It is a concept album inspired by the Wild West and Billy the Kid's outlaw gang, reflecting the tension between freedom and commitment.
Recorded at Island Studios in London, the album was produced by Glyn Johns. Although it was not an immediate commercial success, it peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the singles 'Tequila Sunrise' and 'Outlaw Man'.
The album features songwriting collaborations with Jackson Browne. Over time, Desperado has been regarded as a country rock classic and a turning point in the band's artistic maturity.
