King's Mouth is a concept album released on April 19, 2019. It was originally created as an immersive art installation at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art in 2017, featuring a surreal narrative about a king who eats the universe and then gives birth to a new cosmos.
The album features narration by actor Mick Jones of The Clash and was produced by Dave Fridmann along with the band. It includes collaborations with artists such as violinist and composer Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev) and indie rock singer Kelsey Lu.
The vinyl edition includes an illustrated storybook and a cardboard king mask. The album received mixed to positive reviews, highlighting its conceptual ambition and psychedelic sound, though some critics noted the narrative was difficult to follow without the visual context of the installation.
